That was very entertaining. It's too bad that so many people don't actually know what the Bible says, because they have either never really read it, or they have the comprehension skills of a... a... sheep. Yeah, that's it.
ReplyDeleteit is amazing to me that people leave something with such assumed gravity and importance as faith to the interpretation of some former football star or slick preacher rather than reading and inwardly digesting the scripture themselves.

ReplyDeleteI remember reading that the main reason why anal sex was disliked in the state of Judea was because it was associated with the greeks who ruled over the horrible piece of land for a while.

Yep, well said. I'm a 'person of faith', I suppose, and the dude in the video has got it right in my book.
ReplyDeleteThe Old Testament is all "God Hates Gays" -- Leviticus, I think. But the saner Christians I know say that the Old Testament is kinda Bible I, and then along comes Christ and suddenly you get Bible II fully retconned with lurve and forgiveness to all.
ReplyDeleteSo -- New Testament Christians aren't quite so frothjawed. Fundies, on the other hand, are the same no matter what book they happen to be clutching.
People who refer to the Old Testament to justify an anti-gay stand usually say something like "You can't pick and choose which bits of scripture to respect", not of course acknowledging the bit that says you must kill anyone who eats shellfish.
