4 dead, 13 injured, guess what he's arrested for?.

Here's a link to to some footage and an article - ( kinda heavy footage) - about a 38 year old male in the Netherlands who drives his car THROUGH a crowd at speed killing four and injuring 13 and guess what he gets arrested for?....

"...has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out an attack on the Royal Family."

  1. Well, yes. But other agencies are also reporting he will also be charged with the 5 murders.

  2. MY first instinct in arresting this guy wouldn't have been on an attack on the royal family. Especially when there's more evidence of dangerous driving occasioning death than an attack on someone not immediately affected.

    My thoughts, anyway.

  3. Moko, a lot of the time attacks on royalty are a far more serious offence, one that guarantees the suspect be held for longer periods and with far less chance of obtaining bail. It is possible this was the first of many charges and a way of making sure this person was held indefinately without question. It does not detract from the fact innocent people have been killed and hurt, but merely a way of making sure the bugger is held in custody.

  4. Yeeeeeah. His own serious injuries and a scattering of dead bodies would be enough to assume he wouldn't be a flight risk.

I understand what you're saying, and you're probably right, but it sounds like he mentioned before being carted away that it was intentional.

  5. ....he needed to commit an offence against innocent bystanders before the royals in order to get to the royals. Barricades and a wall of people create an assumed no access area.....which you and me would take for granted, so in order for him to get to the royals he needed to make a conscious decision against the crowd and the cordon...

  8. yeah its sounds weird but its probably more the way the article reports it than the coppers who are doing the charging. As Domestic Daze points out above they charge him with everything but thats the one that gets noticed in the media reading.

  9. I just find it funny how the act of assasinating the head of state is not an act of terrorism..or so the Dutch Gov says...

  10. The guy is dead, he hit metal gates before he hit the crowd and his injuries and the severe damage to his car prevented him from homing in on the bus. The others were more likely collateral damage, but in his mental state he likely did not care.
