Resource Wars: If America Invaded Aus.

Okay, let's say the yanks wanted to build a force in the north end for the intention of securing resources in this part of the world. The Australian government went, "Nah", the the yanks went, "Rightio" and using some of their assets already in place followed by an invasion force in northern Aus secured it anyway and 'took' resource deposits up north.

Obviously not considering other better logistical options the America would more than likely consider first. But if it came to it, would Aus - citizens - fight American military.....or more so, Americans?.

  1. Given some of the stories I have heard about the Kangaroo exercises in Queensland a few years ago, the yanks would last until approximately lunch time before the lot of them went home screaming like a bunch of girls.

If in doubt apply large amounts of Bundy rum to Australian Army and stand well back.

  2. Awwwwww...dudes...this American does not scream like a girl. But don't you know Americans love Aussies? We are alike in so many ways. We would never let our government pull such a stunt. I am hurt that you could entertain such a thought.

    Moko, would never happen, man.

  3. It could just end up being a Battalion or Brigade sized Piss up ya know

  4. I'd have thought resource wars involving Aus would be focussed way down south, the Antarctic probably being home to all the remaining oil in the world eventually

  5. Agreed JadedJ. I've never heard anyone in the U.S. disparage Aussies. Well except for these cats from New Zealand I met one time....

  6. I know it would 'never' happen. We've been allies for what, not even a hundred years. People have had businesses in the family longer. lol

lol..it must be the melon on my head.

Don't think you could 'just take' resources without effectively dislodging any means of the locals taking back those resources. In order to do it you'll need to occupy the lot. And for THAT to happen you'll need some argy bargy...

I'm with U, I think we would too.

  7. Damian, yeah, you're probably right. Would you pick up a rifle if it happen here though?.

  8. Hell yeah! We would probably invite them in and then reneg on the deal just as an excuse for a good dust up!

  9. Aussies are more individualistic than americans.. as strange as that sounds. We put up with bases and people over here trainers/trainees as long as it's made clear they are visitors. Visitors that have something to offer - bring beer and steaks to the party - if ya don't. Well the front gate is that way

    ReplyDelete
  10. a [pretty unlikely scenario, but yeah if the seppos tried to occupy i recoken there'd be a bit of a dust up.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Bit of a DUST up HEY. YEAH FUCKING RIGHT, try smashing the fuck outta the septics. Avery seen a marine that can live withou batteries, Coke, Hot food, a warm cot. A/c and fuckloads of tail end logistical support..NOPE. ecery seen a MARINE that can run around the top end and NOT PISS n MOAN like fucking hell. NOPE. ever seen. OK, ya get the picture. Unless they went WEST of Darwin its a Choke point getting into the Joint, we already know our subs kick arse and in a shallow wate enviro..hell yes. We are basing this on the assumption they wish to stay for a bit. Hit run , small unit tactics, home turf and so on. they would loose just as assuredly as the VC in little black PJ's kick their arses. We may not be the GUN country but 1 on 1...GO THE SKIP soldier. FUCK'em, we would, eight ways from Christmas.

  12. Drop Bears, Cassowary's, and Croc's, and a tasty assortment of snakes up the north end. They'd be fucked.

No dramas hiding the bodies though.

  13. It wouldn't happen ... and we wouldn't stand for it (and niether would the American public).

  14. how much do they ( the US Mil) love them selves, just go look on YOU TUBE, then look at Military fuck up, on you tube..MOST are YANKS, some turban heads as well...But who the fuck forgets to screw in the barrel of a .50cal ad then, then pulls the effin trigger and out pops the barrel.

OH, hae a look at the side of a Bradley or Abrams next time its on a vid or TV, more shit than you and me put together tied and strewn across the sides and front and rear than ya can poke a fucking stick at. Fuck they cart some rubbish.

  15. ...then leave it there when they fuck off...

Funny, I just finished reading Ghost Soldiers wherein many many Marines survived the Bataan Death March and 3 years of Brutal captivity.

"just as assuredly as the VC in little black PJ's kick their arses"

Actually, the US never lost a single battle against the VC or NVA. Common knowledge. Even Giap acknowledged this after the war. We lost the war politically, not militarily.

  17. Uhh... yeah. Heh.

Love yer work, Puma. And... I suspect you'd probably "lose politically" in the north of Oz, too. It's not nearly as nice a place as Vietnam. Or Iraq, for that matter...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I tried to take Puma's comment seriously. Really I did. But any time I read his stuff all I can hear back at me is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzae_SqbmDE.

Now if he was a true patriot surely his nick would be Nike?

  19. Whilst the Political leadership drives the Military and sets the parameters, albeit broadly, in the case of Nearly all battles, stupidity inherent in the upper echelons of the US, contributed a disproportionate amount to the LOSS in Vietnam. I'm pretty sure that Westmorland and his Ilk had a very free hand, their decisions caused the Ultimate loss, given the settings in which the had control.

Don't for one minute stand back and blame the loss on the political appointees, next you will be saying that if they had been allowed to take the war TO THE NORTH like they really wanted it would have been a different result.

And by Jesus are you being liberal in using BATTLE, none lost, what constitutes a battle, a Patrol?, a Battalion?, a Division?. They lost plenty ya halfwit. Its this Hollywooded , Americanised view, which by all accounts still lingers, that causes you lot to fuck up in a never end cycle.

    ReplyDelete
  20. thanks flinthart, the feeling is mutual. If you read my comment again you'll notice I didn't say anything about the rather silly hypothesis of americans fighting australians, or attack Australia at all. Was simply pointing out Havock's misinformed comments.

  21. Fuck yeah, I would kill sooooo many Yanks.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think the war was a mistake havock, but saying the VC kicked our asses is about as far from the truth as you can get. And yes I do blame the politicians. American politicians could screw up a cup of coffee, nevermind a war. The current crop is responsible for the fiasco in Iraq. And you think Hollywood portrays Vietnam in a positive light. Bwahahahahahah. What movies have you been watching?

  23. Oh yeah Moko - I thought I posted this answer, but apparently not. I've had a few "Macbook pro crashes on sleep" issues lately. Anyhow:

Pick up a rifle? Sure, of course even. What to do with it exactly? No idea.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Puma, the context is Modern, at least Vietnam onwards ya halfwit, and being a prisioner..well..FFS.

You might want to consider actually finding out about the decision loop as they call it and how this manifests itself into battles, the location and methods the unit commander employs , which is a result of whats submitted to the Executive in most cases. Then there is freedom of operation on the battlefield....the GOD DAM SENATOR in BUMFUCK EAST IOWA does not have input into that......FUCK ME..

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wasn't the end result of the Vietnam war the yanks retreating and leaving their native allies to be slaughtered?. Fairly black and white if you ask me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. ...wow deja vu. *cough cough Iraq cough*

    ReplyDelete
  27. which was a political decision Moko.

    -Puma

    ReplyDelete
  28. it was a military decision FIRST, submitted to the appointed political representatives, plus as a result of their oh so consistent Military fuck ups, political pressure at home came into play. A properly prosecuted war would not have seen home front political pressure brought to bear.

    ReplyDelete
  29. WHAAAAATT? Now I've heard it all. Curious Havock, which "military fuckups" are you specifically talking about?

    -Puma

    ReplyDelete
  30. See you have it all wrong PUMA, you belief that the US has more right than wrong is arse about, you should be trying to show what ones the US got right!.

If you want to look at Military Genius, go have a look at the stats of Tonnage of ordinance expended per kill in Vietnam, oh and BTW, the actually KILL figures are somewhat suspect, but just for the sake of the exercise go do some research, hell, even pick a specific engagement in Vietnam and do the math.

Or if you wish to, have a look at..hell, Grenada, bay of pigs, Vietnam, Laos, Somalia, Desert storm, Iraq now, Afgan now....all fcuked up, all with US involvement as the , We are big, we know what we are doing, when really they don't know SHIT!. just how to kill off their own countrymen in numbers totally unwarranted. fuck me, you lot cannot even run car companies efficiently...how many of them have gone tits up. Permeated.....throughout your so called higher society and political system is STUPIDITY!.

  31. "Everything gets fucked up on contact with the enemy. That's why he's called the enemy"

    ReplyDelete
  32. yeah but it kinda does help if you have a halfway decent plan at the beginning, plus somebody with a small modicum of intelligence to make the ongoing decisions too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Havock - yeah that's Clauswitz, innit? While it's the case that "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy", that's no reason not to have one. You do what preparation you can, knowing you'll have to improvise once the world changes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Bleah, not Clauswitz, the other one... *googles* Moltke! "No campaign plan survives first contact with the enemy".

    ReplyDelete
  35. YEah well, duh, was about to pull ya up on that. ;o)
