Voting off other drivers.
You know what?. I reckon there should an in-car thing where everyone votes on other drivers via a 'sat-link' thingo where you just punch in the rego and after enough votes a UAV appears over head loaded up with Maverick missiles and blows them into the after life THEIR 'sat-link' thing warns them to sort their shit out or be banned from the road for the rest of the day. For repeat offenders they be banned for an extra day and so on.

Most people have enough difficulty managing to keep their car on the road without crashing it into someone or something, wouldn't want them given more things to do. And of course the worst drivers are always the ones who think they're the best...
ReplyDeleteWouldn't have to be sat, just 3G or whatever network will be universally available for cheap or even for free for car computers in the not-so-distant-future. Otherwise, that's brilliant, I've had ideas approaching this but not as complete. I'd vote for it.

Now, that's something new in safety and enforcement. OnStar can already slow a car down remotely by dropping the engine to idle, now they can turn off the ignition so it won't restart (it doesn't shut down a moving car.) I think peer enforcement would let cops do work that's more important.

ReplyDeleteWe have the very unsophisticated *55 process here - dial *55 to report bad driving. I think it's pretty toothless though they say that repeat offenders can get demerit points. As of 1 Nov here it is finally illegal to use cell phones when driving so I guess *55 is even more crap now.
Maverick warhead too big. better with say a GPS/laser guided 60mm mortar shell dropped from saif UAV.
ReplyDeleteBut yes the amount of bad driving I see is horrendous makes you wish to a camera in every car... or maybe just stiffer penalties for crap driving
On Star operators can do many things, including sending emergency crews after getting an airbag signal, remote unlocking etc. Some worry that is is a bit too intrusive, but there is no proof that they have been infiltrated by the FBI :-)

I just wish they'd make people learn how to drive and how the right hand lane is not where you dawdle at 20k under the limit.
